Security Guard Shoots Tenant In Back

Latasha Rankins vs. New Horizon Memphis One, LLC and Complex Security Co., Inc., Case No. CT-004576-07 (Shelby C. Cir., Tennessee, 2008)

In this case we represented a tenant at a dangerous apartment complex in south Memphis.  Our client was returning home from work to her apartment late one night and was shot twice in the back by the security guard hired by the apartment complex ownership.  Luckily, she fully recovered from the traumatic injury.  We litigated the case for approximately two years and were instrumental in ensuring that the security guard at issue was indicated for attempted murder.  Thereafter, the case was resolved very favorable for Ms. Rankins and she was able to go pay cash for a house in a safe neighborhood.  However, the defendants insisted that the amount remain confidential.
