The Tennessee Wrongful Death statute is designed to preserve whatever causes of action the victim had at the time of his death and also compensates the victim for the losses they have suffered as a result of the death.
Generally, a spouse or children that are over 18 years of age will need to bring the Wrongful Death action. In some cases it may be necessary for the person representing the estate to bring the action.

Time is very important. Tennessee statute requires that any Wrongful Death claim must be filed no more than one year from the date of death.
