Nursing Home Abuse
Information you need to know about Nursing Home Abuse Cases
Nursing Home abuse is a widespread problem. Do not assume that certain warning signs are simply the result of advancing age, your loved ones may be the victim of Nursing Home Abuse. Please note that Tennessee courts treat Nursing Home Abuse as a form of Medical Malpractice.
Nursing Home Abuse can take on several different forms
- Physical Abuse - The most common signs of physical abuse are symptoms such as open wounds, bruises, cuts/lacerations, broken bones, discoloration, burns, rashes, sores and discoloration.
- Elder Neglect – Neglect manifests in physical symptoms as well. Common indicators of neglect include loss or weight, which indicates malnourishment or extremely dry skin or cracked lips, which can indicate insufficient hydration. You should also check to make sure your loved one is properly bathed and not allowed to sit in their own excrement.
- Emotional Abuse – Emotional abuse can be more difficult to detect because the signs aren’t as obvious. The more obvious signs include dramatic changes in behavior: easily agitated or upset, reluctant to speak or withdrawn. Emotional Abuse can manifest itself in many different ways so any sudden and unusual emotional changes should be investigated.
Watson Burns takes Nursing Home neglect cases on a “contingent fee” basis. This means that the law firm will advance all expenses and costs and accept a percentage of a successful verdict or settlement as payment. If your case is not successful then you will not have to pay anything.
